2006 HIFF YOUTH MEDIA PROGRAM

As curators for The Youth Media Program at The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF), our primary interest is to discover outstanding original video and/or film work produced by young people across the country and around the world.

While the young people who have created the videos in the program may well be the videomakers of the future, we celebrate that they are also the videomakers of today in their own right. The Hamptons International Film Festival affirms the value of youth-produced work by honoring one talented youth with the Golden Starfish Award for Best Young Videomaker. In addition, Children's Media Project recognizes one videomaker in each category.

The juries for the four programs of youth-produced media include:

Barbara Belotte: Youth videomaker, ACTIVATE THE MESSAGE: GREEN TEENS

Greg Berger: Director, GRINGOTON

Konnie Chameides: Director, YOUNG, JEWISH, AND LEFT; and curator for Time and Space Limited

Jacqueline Susan Goss: Director, HOW TO FIX THE WORLD; and Assistant Professor of Film and Electronic Arts, Bard College

Penny Lane: Director, THE ABORTION DIARIES; and Visiting Assistant Professor of Film/Video, Hampshire College

Kelvin Redvers: Director, 2005 Golden Starfish Winner for Best Young Videomaker, SHEEP; and film student at Simon Fraser University

Patrick Smith: Director/Animator, PUPPET, HANDSHAKE, Blend Films

Nicole Quinn: Screenwriter, PRETTY BIRD, DEVIL’S GARDEN
