Radio Uprising 2010 Summer Media Workshop

Children's Media Project is excited to announce the 2010 RADIO UPRISING SUMMER Media Workshop. The program is a 6-week long workshop for middle and high school aged youth who are interested in recording, producing, writing for, and editing radio pieces and creating an entire radio show. Students will work with CMP's teaching artists to develop their media production skills and create youth-oriented media productions for RADIO UPRISING, a weekly radio show on WVKR 91.3 FM Poughkeepsie. The program will provide students with the opportunity to learn media production skills and build a portfolio of their work.

Interviews will be held June 15th or June 16th (slots open from 3:30-5:30). Please call 845-485-4480 to schedule an interview.

DROP TV 2010 Summer Media Workshop

Children's Media Project is excited to announce the 2010 DROP TV SUMMER Media Workshop. The program is a 6-week long workshop for youth 14-19 interested in video making, media design, art, drama, and writing. Students will work with CMP's teaching artists to develop their media production skills and create youth-oriented media productions for DROP TV, CMP's award winning youth-produced television show. The program will provide students with the opportunity to learn digital media production skills and build a portfolio of their work. Only 15 students will be selected for participation. Once we receive your application we will contact you for an interview.

Mini Movies: Videomaking Workshop

Children's Media Project (CMP) teaching artists will lead youth participants through the creation of a short movie. Participants will work together in video production crews to brainstorm story ideas, plan, film, and edit their videos, with each student filling different roles throughout the process. CMP teaching artists will assist the students in their creative process, providing technical and artistic support. Youth participants will edit their videos during the workshop with assistance from CMP teaching artists and each youth will receive a DVD copy of the final videos.

Multi-Media Masters

Youth participants will get a hands-on experience in media-making as they try out a variety of media including animation, radio, and video. Students will explore stop-motion animation techniques, create audio recordings for radio broadcast, and create short live-action narrative videos starring themselves! All youth must bring lunch and any snacks for the day. This workshop is being offered by Children’s Media Project teaching artists.

During the week, youth will focus on the creative use of clay, paper, and other assorted 3D objects as they work in pairs or three at a time to make stop-motion animated movies. They will explore traditional and experimental techniques with the support of CMP teaching artists. Youth will learn how to make backgrounds and figures, create movement, tell a story visually, and make a soundtrack. CMP teaching artists will edit the videos during the workshop with direction from youth participants. Each youth will receive a DVD copy of the animations and the videos will be available on the CMP website. This workshop is being offered by Children’s Media Project teaching artists.

Find Your Voice: Audio Production Workshop

During the week, youth will be led by CMP teaching artists through the planning, producing, and editing of thematic engaging programming for radio and web broadcast. Participants will work in teams to create short pieces that address their chosen theme dramatically, journalistically and via personal narrative. They will develop technical skills to include recording sounds, sound editing, and sequencing. All youth participants will receive a CD of the final podcasts. Students must bring lunch each day. This workshop is open to youth in the Pawling Public School District and other Pawling youth. This project is made possible in part through a grant from the Dutchess County Arts Council, administrator of public funds through NYSCA’s Decentralization Program. This workshop is being offered by Children’s Media Project teaching artists.
